Flexible Plastic Packaging
A high-performance, heat-sealable monomaterial PE barrier film designed for flexible plastic packaging and PE recycling streams.
Product distinction: HyperBarrier® Film is a monomaterial polyethylene solution for flexible plastic packaging. It is distinct from HyperBarrier® Coating, a nanocomposite extrusion coating for paper and board packaging designed for paper-recycling streams.
The Film Proposition
HyperBarrier Film is a polyolefin nanocomposite designed to improve the barrier performance of polyethylene while maintaining a monomaterial PE structure. It is a heat-sealable flexible film designed to replace complex multilayer plastic structures.
The company’s stated objective is to help flexible formats achieve the barrier performance required for sensitive products without relying on incompatible layers such as metallized films or other mixed-material structures.

Designed for Flexible Packaging
Its PE-recycling pathway is distinct from the paper-stream focus of EarthCoating and HyperBarrier Coating.
The film is designed as a monomaterial polyethylene structure for flexible plastic packaging and the applicable PE recycling pathway.
HyperBarrier Film is designed for heat-sealable flexible applications, including pouches, lidding, and wraps.
The film is engineered for oxygen- and moisture-sensitive flexible packaging applications.
How It Works
HyperBarrier Film uses an engineered nanoclay morphology within polyethylene to create a tortuous diffusion path for gases and moisture. The intended result is enhanced barrier performance in a PE film structure.
The film is designed to simplify flexible packaging structures that otherwise rely on multiple layers or materials to obtain a required barrier. The appropriate comparison depends on the finished pack and product requirements.
Film gauge, construction, application, seal performance, printing, product type, target market, collection route, and local recyclability criteria all require application-specific assessment.
Applications
HyperBarrier Film is designed for flexible pouches, lidding, wraps, dry foods, snacks, coffee and tea, nuts and seeds, spices and seasonings, and related high-barrier flexible applications.
