Product distinction: HyperBarrier® Film is a monomaterial polyethylene solution for flexible plastic packaging. It is distinct from HyperBarrier® Coating, a nanocomposite extrusion coating for paper and board packaging designed for paper-recycling streams.

HyperBarrier Film is a polyolefin nanocomposite designed to improve the barrier performance of polyethylene while maintaining a monomaterial PE structure. It is a heat-sealable flexible film designed to replace complex multilayer plastic structures.

The company’s stated objective is to help flexible formats achieve the barrier performance required for sensitive products without relying on incompatible layers such as metallized films or other mixed-material structures.

How It Works

Nanoclay morphology within the PE matrix.

HyperBarrier Film uses an engineered nanoclay morphology within polyethylene to create a tortuous diffusion path for gases and moisture. The intended result is enhanced barrier performance in a PE film structure.

What the structure replaces

The film is designed to simplify flexible packaging structures that otherwise rely on multiple layers or materials to obtain a required barrier. The appropriate comparison depends on the finished pack and product requirements.
