Unisource Signs License Agreement with Smart Planet Technologies
UNISOURCE SIGNS LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH SMART PLANET TECHNOLOGIES Company Will Distribute EarthBoard And EarthCoating Lines Of Greener Packaging Solutions In North America
NORCROSS, GA (December 15, 2010) - Unisource Worldwide, Inc., one of the leading distributors of paper, packaging, and facility supplies throughout North America, has signed an agreement to distribute the “EarthBoard” and “EarthCoating” lines of environmentally-driven packaging solutions throughout North America. Their products are based upon the research and intellectual property of Smart Planet Technologies, Inc. The broad based availability of these innovative solutions will assist companies to affordably achieve their packaging sustainability targets.

EarthBoard’s natural mineral content can greatly improve whiteness, printability and performance of recycled fiberboards. EarthCoating reduces the use of plastic contaminants often found in folding carton and corrugated boxes that require barrier properties such as food packaging. Less use of plastic in coatings leads to better recyclability of fiberboard packaging.

Menasha Packaging Signs Licensing Agreement with Smart Planet Technologies
Menasha Packaging has announced their license agreement with Smart Planet Technologies, developers of an innovative planet-friendly packaging material, EARTHBOARD Menasha’s Folding Carton Group will now offer the eco-friendly option to their customers. EarthBoard and stone, offering a bright white printable surface with barrier protection against water, oil, fatty acids and grease. It has the flexibility and performance of traditional polycoated boxboards, but is better for the environment by reducing the use of plastic and bleached virgin tree fibers in food packaging applications.
“The use of EarthBoard allows us to uphold our high color and printing standards, while providing our customers with a solution that supports their environmental strategies,” says Dennis Bohn, Menasha’s Vice President of Marketing. “Menasha Packaging is thrilled to offer EarthBoard as we continue to make strides in our sustainability efforts.”
In addition to its sustainability and durability, EarthBoard is FDA compliant to meet food companies’ safety needs.
